A slightly edited version of the original image. I changed the brightness, saturation and fixed up the background, all just to get a nice base for the following images.
A simple experiment. I wanted to incorporate the colours used for the handprints else where with this, so I placed blocks around, gaussian blurred them, pixelated them and lowered the opacity to make them less overbaring. I also duplicated that and "disolved" them, making it into a sort of spray paint effect, which I really like.
These are my favourite of the bunch. I used some handwritten notes from a personal project, it creates a feeling of me pushing my loved ones away, or that I tell others I love them in ways I've learned from those around me. Whatever the interpretation, it's right.
This was really easy to do, I simply traced the handwritten notes and placed them around me, as if they're written on the wall (first). I then blurred them slightly, as if they had faded or the wall was moving while I was stationary (second), I also combined the two just to see what happened, and ended up with an almost glow effect which I adore (third).
These two are super experimental for me, I used a "hard mix" blending mode which created a really bright and saturated image (left) which I took a step further by pixelating it (right). I love both loads, and I'm really happy with how they came out, even if they do stray away from my usual style.
These were some more experimentation using different photos from the shoot on top of the base (very first) image, and using different blending modes to see the different effects.
The image in the centre is by far my favourite from this line of experimentation. When taking these photos I was with a friends and was having a laugh but they managed to capture one of my more goofy moments and when looking through the photos, it really caught my eye. I decided to remove the background to allow me to properly use the puppet warp tool to reposition my arms as they were at angles that didn't quite look right. I then used the "difference" blending mode to create this inverted look and finished it off by flipping it upside down. The juxtaposition between a silly and a serious photo creates an intriguing effect, in that there is so much going on and yet the same message still shines through.
